Question on memory speeds. I'm mixing pc66 and pc100

Ok, it's a 770. It is running the PII233. Tomorrow I'll be installing my PII400 that I just got. I mention that because I'm not sure if this will effect what is happening.
I understand that I have 32mb of PC66 ON the motherboard. In the expansion slots I have two 128mb stick. I understand this is supposed to give me 288mb total. BUT I'm only showing 261mb. I'm sure it's because I have a PC66 stick as well as a PC100 stick in the machine. The computer runs well, but I honestly don't see a different from when I was running 130mb total. But I also only use the machine for web access and writing.
Also the PC100 HAS to be installed in a certain bank. I forget which one, but I know that if I swap the banks the chips are installed in, the PC100 is not even picked up.
Any insight on this? Am I hurting anything?
