Hello,
on my Thinkpad 770X 9549 (7B0) on which the backlight of the lcd seems to be defect.
At least i can see some contents on the screen whenever i watch at it from aside and against some daylight.
My question is: how can i find out what sparepart i need?
What criteria can give me a hint on whether the ccfl lamp, the powersupply for that ccfl or the inverter or whole display is the matter of darkness here.
The system has never been modified or opened or something. It has a 14inch LSD (i think there are 2 different kinds existing one 13,3 and one 14inch)
What would you recommend?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Best regards
matthias

No takers? Maybe this is already a widely beaten up subject
. For parts list and guide to open up your machine check the FAQs for the link to download the hardware maintenance manual.
The most prone to fail part for the display system (specially on the 770 machines) is the inverter, followed by the fluorescent backlight. Both give the same symptoms. The inverter is readily replaceable while the backlight is not since it is an integral part of the lcd panel and I think (based on my experience with the 600 machines) there is no FRU number for it. Others have replaced the CCFL however, and you can search the forum for instructions how to do it.
Cheers...

It might work for a bit,but will eventually just shut off and stay off...try pushing FN+F7 twice-to toggle between external and internal LCD...that usually works for awhile....but will eventually fail completely....look for fru#12J0445,instead of the 10L1660 that is in there....works good, and about 100 bucks cheaper..!!!
