Trident Cyber9397DVD board
Has anyone here replaced the standard 9397 board in a base 770 with the 9397DVD board from an X or Z model? Is there any improvement or is it not worth the hassle?

Trident Cyber9397DVD board
In doing some "Frankenpad" experiments I have put the video board from a 770E (4MB) in a 770. It worked, but not any better than the standard board. Then again, I didn't try any display-heavy operations like games or DVD playing. Then again, if your original video board went South and you only have the 770X board to replace it, try it and see.
I think the best route for getting good DVD performance from a 770 is to install the DEVA card (fits under the battery) and don't try to mess with anything else in the computer. Also, give the OS as much RAM as it can stand (128-256 MB for Win 9X; more for the NT flavors, 2000 and XP).
Hope this helps.
