Is this the correct CPU upgrade for a 600?

Hello!

I'm about to buy this PII/400 for my ThinkPad 600 (2645-45U). It says it's for notebooks, but can anyone please verify that it would work?

The seller doesn't know if it's MMC-1 or MMC-2. He also states that the part number is SL3BW, but that number isn't on IBM's site anywhere. I was able to find one auction on the Web that said their SL3BW was a "Micro PGA" socket, but is that the same as MMC-1?

Thank you for all your help!

Jeff

Identifying MMC-2 CPU Modules

No. This is not an MMC module and it won't fit your ThinkPad 600/E/X. This is a later design that is used in other laptops.

To learn more about MMC-1 and MMC-2 modules, check out Mobile CPU Mania on Tom's Hardware.

For help identifying Intel PII MMC-1 and MMC-2 modules by serial number, check out Intel Pentium II Idenfication on CPU World.

I think you need an MMC-1 and the 400MHz PII is the fastest MMC-1 that was made by Intel. Such a processor would have an Intel serial number like:
PMD400... or PMF400... I'm not sure which, but probably PMF400...

Ah, ok. Thank you for steering me in the right direction. And away from the wrong one!
