600x battery

hi,I've purchased a 600x battery off ebay for replacement,I just bought this for my daughter for school.It was suppose to be new,but it doesn't seem to be charging,I took the old out,new in,plugged in adapter,left over
night,nothing,am I doing something wrong or did I just get burned?

Sounds like you got burned.

If you have a volt meter you can check the charge state of the battery, there should be some there. I forget what contacts the 600X uses for pos and neg, but you can find that in the manual.

Obviously you are sure the mains chargers/adapters are good, no?

What lights are lit in the power/battery area when the adapter is plugged in?

hi,It runs with the charger plugged in,the light is flashing orange that it needs charging from what I understand.thanks

I know that this might sound silly, but try putting the "old" battery back in. I had this happen before. Somehow I mixed up the two batteries.

Yes, flashing orange is a charging battery. If you left it to charge overnight and it still flashes orange in the morning, you have a bad battery.

Now, wandering into the tear it apart and rebuild chapter, if your seller gave you no gurantee of it being good/chargeable, then you might as well try rebuilding the battery if you are inclined to undertake such things. Also, as they are Lithium Ion, they can be dangerous to work with.

That being said, you may one of the cells inside the pack that is dead/low. If one cell is not equal to the other cells the battery will not properly charge, nor hold a charge. I rebuilt a pack for my 600X, and found two of the cells were low in comparison to the other cells. I replaced them with some new cells, and found the battery pack had gone from unusable to holding a little over an hour of charge. Not bad for a $20.00 repair I thought.

Actually, flashing orange means that the battery is not taking a charge (ie. dead battery). A steady orange light means that the battery is charging.
