Hi, I recently ran into a working TP 365ED, but with no floppy or modem. Does anyone know if I can install a 10/100 network card to its PCMCIA slot? if so, which card should I get? Also, if anyone knows where I could dl a user's manual for this model...

on a separate note. I have an external laptop CDROM that I would be happy to trade for a external floppy (IBM) for this laptop.

The link below is the only relevant document I could find, however it does not mention the "ED" variant of the 365 series. On my 365XD I am using an ancient Linksys PCMCIA card (model EC2T) which works remarkably well; my only complaint is that it has a dongle rather then an integrated socket on the card.

So, I now want to get a network card for this TP... does anyone know if this model's PCMCIA slot supports 32 bit network cards?

Hi hanspet,

Quote from the 365 user guide:

The PC Card slots operate at 5V and support the following:
Type I, Type II, and Type III PC Cards.
16-bit PC Card (PCMCIA 2.0,2.1/ JEIDA 4.1,4.2)
Note that the PC Card slots do not support 8-bit or 16-bit slave
DMA PC Cards.

There are a few PCMCIA type cards still on the market so you might find something new rather then used. Some manufactures also have combo cards, which include both a network card and a modem (LinkSys PCMLM56 as an example).

Make sure your PC card is 16bit (older, usually) and not 32bit (card-bus) as it will not work in this older laptop.

I have a 365XD which is simular and use NetGear FA411 card also use a Enterasys WiFi card on my home network. Both work well.
