Hi,
I just reloaded Win98se on this TP 600E (downloaded drivers from IBM) and everything works fine except I have this conflict with the Intel 82371ab/eb pci bus master IDE controller. Tried to inst. new intel inf (ver. 6.3) from Intel, but didn't helped.
Any Ideas? Please Help.

This issue is discussed in an earlier thread called:
TP 770X, 98SE, IRQ conflict ???

The error comes about because you have not followed the correct, complete instructions for installing Windows 98SE onto your machine,. and in particular you have not installed the APM2APM.reg file from the Windows 98 "supplemental files disk" properly:
Windows 98 installation supplement files - ThinkPad 770, 600E/X
Tried to inst. new intel inf (ver. 6.3) from Intel...
I have no idea what this inf is or what it relates to, but you should not have to install anything from Intel, just use the files supplied by IBM and everything should work great.

Used to have the same problem, Computer worked fine but there was that annoying yellow circle with exclamation mark

As someone else said APM2APM.reg patched the registery (what it does) and fixed the problem.. Yellow circles all gone now

if you do not have the disk ask, I'm sure someone will provide the file for you

If you do not know open a Dos Prompt and type

cd / Then press enter
Now type: dir apm2apm.* /s and again press enter

Sit back and watch as the file is located by DOS

Windows find file feature can be used as well but DOS is so much neater
