Safe to run TP600E without the battery?

The battery in my old TP600E is pretty much shot, and I now run the machine strictly off AC power.

Does the battery provide any required load or filtering or regulation function when the machine is on the AC adapter, or can I simply remove it?

Should be just fine. Lots of people do just this because a new battery costs more than the computer is worth. The only thing you won't be able to do is update the BIOS (if it isn't current).

And if you have a power disruption, you may lose data. If you run off of an UPS (universal power supply), this should alleviate that worry.

Its fine to just run off the battery but if you suddenly loose power or the plug comes out a few times then what happened to mine will also happen to yours too...POST a 188 error (bad BIOS checksum).

The 600E battery is so prone to losing its juice and going south early that I know several 600 series users who take the battery out and use just the AC by habit.
