Crystalware (tm) Audio
I have an IBM thinkpad 600 with Windows 98SE.
When it is booting up I get the message:
Crystalware (tm) Audio Initialization Utility, Version 2.720
Bad command or File Name.
Some times It continues to boot Windows and at other
times it hangs up. How can I correct it?

This could be any of several issues: a corrupted file, a hardware problem with your sound card, a hardware problem with your motherboard, or a software configuration problem.
First step I think would be to reinstall the audio drivers for your 600. Download the drivers from IBM/Lenovo's Software and Device Drivers - ThinkPad 600, under Audio (select the one for Windows 95/98!). Then follow the instructions to install.
If you have a ThinkPad 600 (not 600E or 600X), then the drivers are available from Audio driver package for Windows 95/98 - ThinkPad 380, 385, 560X/Z, 600, 770/E/ED.
Make sure to follow the first step of the install, which is to use the driver package to UNINSTALL your current drivers.
If this doesn't solve your bootup error, then post back and let us know.
Phil.

Crystalware (tm) Audio
Sorry, I failed to state that I had
already installed this latest updated Audio drivers
already installed this latest updated Audio drivers
Mmm...well, the latest version is version 2.80, not version 2.72, which is the version on the report you are getting during bootup.
I would re-install the drivers again, even though you have already done so, and make sure that you follow the instructions and use the driver utility to UNINSTALL the old drivers first. Then continue with the installation as per the instructions. If this does not remove the problem, then I wonder if you have got some kind of entry in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file or CONFIG.SYS file that is trying to call the audio initialization utility, but is using an incorrect parameter to do so....maybe you installed only the Windows version of the latest driver, and still have an earlier version of the DOS driver being called up somewhere on your system.
If not in the AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS, you could try running msconfig at the RUN prompt and seeing if there is a crystal sound utility running somewhere during bootup. There should be one, but only one, I think.
I had a DOS version running on mine until I removed it:
C:\WINDOWS\CWCDATA\CWCDOS.EXE /P
Hope this helps,
Phil.
