I got a Thinkpad 765L IBM P-166MHZ, running Win 2000, I purchased a PCMCIA card D-Link DWL-G650 (wireless card, 32 bits) I got a message when I insert this card.
The device Texas instruments PCI-1130 CardBus Controller" has detected a CardBus card in its slot, but the firmware on this system is not configured to allow the CardBus controller to be run in CardBus mode. The operating system will currently accept only 16-bit (R2) pc-cards on this controller.

Any suggestions? do I need to update Win 2000?
I've been told that it should work since the laptop has 32 bit controller built in from the factory. :?:
regards!

Make sure you have the latest BIOS update installed (you can get it from the IBM Web Site). The BIOS Update download is a file that will create a bootable floppy which you must run with a fully charged battery and plugged into the AC adapter.

Also, you should make sure you have downloaded the latest PC Card drivers for the 765 series.

Hope this helps.

You have to enable cardbus in thinkpad configuration, and assign it an IRQ.
