Cannot make contact with network printer from 770X

#1 Post by cspgsl » Tue Oct 11, 2005 3:48 pm

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. If so, please redirect me.
I am trying to connect to an IBM Infoprint 1354 via an ethernet cable through my router as opposed to a USB cable. I tried setting it up through my router but couldn't ping the printer. I then installed a separate NIC but again, no contact.
I really don't have any experience here so if there is a kind sole out that that could walk me through it I would be most appreciative.
I tried to install it using the wizard by creating a new port, inserting the IP Address that the printer tells me it has but still cannot ping it.
Thanks in advance

Hi
I just did this and the catch was to check the local printer box
where the wizard gives you the choice of local or network.
(Like 'to shutdown, press start'.)
I then used port 9100 ('standard TCP/IP port'). I think I had
to create that port but don't recall for sure.

ps to the last post-
I did have to create the port, and then in the 'configure port'
choice, where it says 'printer name or IP address', give it the
IP address.
