Modem diconnects after 5 seconds?

#1 Post by rookworm » Fri Oct 14, 2005 12:27 am

I have been really frustrated with my new (old) 701CS. I just bought an ethernet card, and I need to get a driver onto my system. I figured out I just need one 16k file, (ne2000.sys) on my system and it will work (hopefully). I set up a small webpage with it on, and tried to download it to no avail. The modem keeps disconnecting! the modem is currently its only connection to the outside world (save for the keyboard) so I'm at a loss. I'm using WIN95. How can I get this thing to work? :x :x :x :x

Also how do I send commands to the modem, and is there a list of commands for this particular modem? How should I configure it?

It seems to only have been a problem when downloading more than one thing at once (like a website with pictures), so I set up a direct download of the ethernet drivers, and managed to install those, so a quick answer to this question is no longer of particular urgency for me. Hopefully this was just a software problem.....
