win 2000 pro...wont load.....TP 600x.....starts then dies
ok....TP600 with win 200 pro....starts up, run through that its loading, when it reaches end just about to open, it reverts back to a reboot, and just does this in circles by itself, wont get past there......does offer F8 to troubleshoot etc, but none of the options there seem to work....as in prompt , safe mode etc....tried to do last configuartion with no luck....any ideas??? dont have the 2000 pro recover disc.....do have the ibm disk with win 95, but it wont accept that even to redo the laptop with 95....help please.
If you can boot up into Safe Mode, try running System File Checker.
You can try going into the BIOS setup menu and running system diagnostics. With the laptop powered off, press the power button, then press the F1 key about once a second until you get into the BIOS.

Funny that you posted this exact problem. Not sure if it's a virus or tons of spyware, but I have run accross this issue 4 times this past week on our studetns' laptops. Nothing I would do would work. Thought it was bad memory, then CMOS battery, etc. Does not seem to be hardware related.
One of the systems pushing F8 during boot up and then selecting "previously successful boot" or something like that was the answer.
On the others, I still couldn't get the systems to boot. Finally took the HDD out of the laptop and put it into a 2nd HDD adapter, and inserted into my T30. Did a virus scan (only one of the laptops had a virus), but running spyware scans with both Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware showed many spywares. I cleaned them off, did a defrag on the drives and also did a "disk check," what used to be sandisk with older systems and re-fitted the HDD back into the original laptop and had no trouble booting it up. Just thought I would share my experience here.

You can get to a DOS prompt using the Windows Startup floppy disks, which you can make with any Windows system. You can also get to a DOS prompt by booting up a Windows install CD.
If you have a Norton Antivirus CD, you can boot up from that and do a virus scan (although the virus signatures would be out of date).

Make sure you have the latest BIOS update. I see also that you can download PC-Doctor for DOS and Windows. Download the bootable version of PC-Doctor and run the diagnostics. All of the above from the following link.
