600E-Cant get Video/TV out to work!!

Hello all, I have a 600E 5ju that I finally got my new 40gig hd installed and working with XP pro. I installed all Necessary drivers and updates from the IBM web sight. Everything seems to be working well, BUT the TV/Video out. When I click on the tv button in the Thinkpad configuration nothing happens. It does not even look like its selected. This system has been in my closet for the last three years with a bad lcd and trashed hard drive. I know the video out worked in the past, and I kind of remember having to go into the display options and do something. That option does not seem to be available with XP Pro. Anyone have any ideas to what the problem may be. Thanks in advance for your time and help. [/b]

I used to have a 600E, but I don't remember all of the particulars. But I believe you need to go into display properties to fix. Check the following.

Right-click on an open area of the desktop, choose Properties > Settings > Advanced. Check the Display tab and verify that TV is active. Also make sure you are set up for NTSC and not PAL (unless you live in Europe). Depending upon the software you are using, you may need to set Overlay to Theater Mode (I think this is on another tab under display settings).

Note that you may have to be connected to the TV video in and have the TV set up with the video in jack active, before you can change TV settings in display properties. I assume you have the special TV out cable for your 600E.

Looking at that thread, it appears that the main trick is to use the IBM W2K Neomagic driver in XP.

Got it!!! Thanks a lot guys for your help. Installing the IBM W2k Neomagic driver solved my problem. These forums have been a tremendous help in reviving my old Thinkpad 600e. Now back up and running well. Keep up the good work!!!
