TP600 upgrade

#1 Post by gbr » Wed Nov 02, 2005 4:16 pm

Hi,

i have a chance to buy a 600X lower case with system board and processor. I also have a complete TP600. Is it possible to replace above parts of 600 with 600X's ones?

regards,
G

It depends on the two models. Most likely though, it won't work 100%.

You might need to get 600X inverter (sub card) Also, depending on the model 600, the display might not fit. Most 600s were 12", although some were 13.3" displays.

What are the type numbers for each machine? (ie. 2645-4AU)

Thanks for your support.
My 600 is 2645-85U, the 600x is 2645-ABG.

i modded my existing tp600 sub card by chopping off the end tabs to fit on tp600e+x mobos opposite tabs ,cannot understand why ibm went through all the trouble to avoid interchangability?conversely everything else will interchange except tp600x cpu fan which requires removal of exhaust grill lugs inside the lower case for perfect heatsink fit.
