Screen Replace in 240x

#1 Post by thevoltmaster » Sun Nov 06, 2005 2:01 pm

Ive been looking at replacing the cracked screen to my 240x with one found on ebay however ive hit a little stumbling block. The service manual here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... yout=print
indicates a difference between "type A" and "Type B" LCD displays but doesent tell me how to tell them apart. Ebay simply lists the screens as compatible for 240 or 240x. What is the difference between these screens and do i have reason to be concerned?[/url]

The 240x had an 800x599 screen whereas the plain 240 had an 800x600 screen. The 240x had a special video driver for the screen. I don't know if they are interchangeable, but I somehow expect not. ... JD Hurst

Page 19 of your HMM tells you which type LCD your 240 is based on the serial number.

I'd ask the seller whether it is a Type A or B LCD, or search by the part number for the respective LCD.
