If you have the 133mhz model, then Windows 2000 should be able to run but I'm pretty sure it'd be rather slow.

If you have the 120mhz model, then no because Windows 2000 requires a Pentium 133mhz CPU or faster.

Windows 2000 runs very slowly on a 166Mhz ThinkPad with 160Mb of memory. Expect nothing but painstakingly slow on a 133Mhz with 72Mb of RAM. ... JD Hurst

I used to own an HP OmniBook 800CT w/ a Pentium MMX 166 and 32mb RAM and I had Windows 2000 Pro on it. It didn't run win 2k as good as my desktop at the time but after the hellishly long bootup, Win2k Pro was pretty usable and stable. Nonetheless, Windows 95B or Windows 98SE would be a much better OS to run on your older ThinkPad.

If you absolutely need Win 2k, then it should run fine but I'm still not going to make a recomendation towards it.

Thanks. It is the 133 model and maxed out at 72 meg too. I have WIN 98 SE on it now and it runs alright once the boot process is complete. The only OS that really runs fast on a 133 is M$DOS. Heck, back in the real olden days I had a 286 12mhz with a meg Ram and had MSDOS 5.0 and WIN 3.1 on it. It ran slow too but was useable.
Thanks for the input. Guess I'll leave WIN98SE on my 365.
