Thinkpad 600E harddrive a new?!

Hi @all,
I'm so happy that i found this forum :D !
So my problem! My old harddrive is broken, so I need a new!
Should I pay atantion to something, when I buy the harddrive?
Need I a new Bios update?Sure?! :oops:

Most laptop hard drives will work, as long as they are 12mm or thinner.

For larger hard drives like a 40GB, you will need to update your BIOS. Note: you will also need a battery that holds a charge to update the BIOS, as well as a floppy drive.

Many recommend a 5400rpm or better hard drive, as it will speed up the laptop.

I mean that the regular brick battery that you attach to your computer to use as an alternate to AC power.

This battery will have to hold a charge, in order to upgrade your BIOS. It is a requirement, incase you lose power during the upgrade process. Losing power during the BIOS upgrade can result in a dead motherboard.

However, according to this forum, there are ways around not having a battery. Just search for "upgrade BIOS without battery" in this forum.
