Which OS are you using?
If you are using Windows, then you need to download the display drivers from the IBM Site:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... SHY-3Y5LVT
You can also use the site to download all of the other drivers that you need. You can even find Linux drivers, if you aren't using Windows.

Three questions:
1. First a repeat question: Which OS are you using?
2. Do you know if the laptop was working correctly before you installed whatever OS you are using?
3. Did you follow the install instructions for the video adapter driver?

When you download drivers from IBM's site, generally there is a 2-step process to install them.
General driver instructions below (some drivers have different instructions).
1. After downloading the file, double-click on it to execute it. This will put the driver files in the appropriate installation directories. Pay attention to where they will be copied to.
2. Go to the directory where the installation files were placed and double-click on Setup.exe to install the files.
When installing video drivers, you generally need to make sure you are using the Standard VGA driver first. Check in device manager. After changing to the Standard VGA driver, reboot. Go into device manager, open display adapters, double-click on your display adapter, go to the driver tab, choose update driver. When wizard runs, point it to the directory where the files were saved as mentioned above. Choose the appropriate display adapter driver (you need to know what you have).
All the above are general instructions. The best advice is to do what pkiff said: "follow the install instructions for the video adapter driver". [These are in the readme file which you can download with the driver file].
