Hello from Greece,
i want to detach the LCD from a 770 and attach it with a cable to the VGA port in the back of the 770E body.
I want to use the thinkpad for navigation and i want only the LCD to put in frond and the body of thinkpad under the seat
Any help???

I was always thinking of doing the same thing when I had a couple 770's laying around.......The video and inverter cable are the only wires from the LCD to the base, and they look like common copper wire....I was just going to try extending the cables and see if that worked, but never got around to it...

...I'm not sure it would even boot without the LCD attatched, even if set tonever come on....
Please let me know how you make out...!!!

Do you have any pictures of what the 770 looks like now? I saw pictures that might have come from your 770, but I couldn't find any of the 770 itself.
Also, how easy was this?

I've thought about using Thinkpads similarly in my business of modifying slot-machines for use under amusement laws, eliminating their ability to accept or payout coins, tokens, etc but instead network them for control by a central computer. Right now I use a 2-line LCD display and the machine's own controls for input but by putting a TP inside, the display and a USB numpad or small keyboard outside, I would have far more flexibility and control.
