TP600X folding dock connector door?

#1 Post by Edward Mendelson » Thu Jul 08, 2004 4:47 pm

Hello all,

I use a ThinkPad 600X in a SelectaDock III and remove it from the dock every night to lock it away out of sight. I've now managed to break the little folding double door on the rear panel of the ThinkPad that covers the dock connector, and would like to replace it, but I can't find a part number or replacement procedure in the HMM.

Probably I'm not looking hard enough, and this is a case of user incompetence, but if anyone could give any advice on the part number, and how to replace that door, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks in advance,

If you broke the door like I did (on a 770X), you sheared off a post that is part of the lower plastic housing. You will need to get another housing, in which the doors are assembled. Or just live without the door (make sure you remove the debris).

Hope this helps.

Bruce,

That's *extremely* helpful. What it means is (I think) that I would need the replacement base cover FRU 27L6587 (aka 04P3508) if I wanted to fix that door. It's a lot of taking apart and putting-together again, and, as you suggest, it may not be worth it; it's easy to live without that door.

However, I've got an 800MHz part that I want to replace in the same machine, so maybe I'll give it a try.

Thanks again for completely clearing this up!
