770Z / 770X Whats the diff?

#1 Post by xntriklytwzted » Sat Jul 10, 2004 12:17 am

Hello all,

I have a working 770Z that's up and runn'n good. And I also have a 770X that's in need of a DC board. My question is.....what's the difference between these two.

Thanks all,

Chris

The X and Z are close enough i see no reason why you couldn't use the card from a X in a Z or vise versa.

770x has a 300Mhz PII CPU, 770z has a 366Mhz PII CPU. Other then that I know of no difference at all. They are identical otherwise.

I was under the same impression,(same except for CPU).....but what do you think would call for a different Bios for the X and the Z....gotta be a few changes in there......

just a thought...

Without having two stock examples side by side to compare, a guess would be the z bios is optimized for 256k of internal, full speed cache while the x bios is meant for 512k of external, half speed cache.
