Unknown Decices in Device Manager transnote 2675-61U

#1 Post by JLZ » Tue Dec 27, 2005 12:23 pm

OK, I dunno about this one. My harddrive crashed a few months ago and upon finally getting it replaced and rebooted off the recovery CD, a couple items still don't function yet I have a suspicion about why.

First, I can't get a PCI wireless card or USB wirleess card to work- They show power but never link up.

Second, the touchscreen element does not fuction, even though I loaded a driver off the Lenovo site for it.

In Device Manager, there are two ?s, listing unknown devices. My friend suggested that these were possibly missing chipset drivers. That would be great if they were.

Has anyone experienced and rectified this problem? Lemme know, the suspense is killing me.

What OS are you using, and are you able to connect to the internet with the Transnote?

Transnote 2675-61U Missing devices

#3 Post by JLZ » Tue Dec 27, 2005 6:01 pm

thanks for asking. I'm running windows 2000 pro. Yes, I can get on my network using the internal network conneciton. my two missing devices having anything to do with this probem is, of course, only my suspicion, not verified. Albeit its definitely missing drivers for two unknown devices which leaves me entirely baffled.

My reason for asking about your being able to connect to the internet, is because Xp (and I think Win2000) can connect to the internet to update/reinstall drivers.

Actually, now that I am thinking about it, have you downloaded the Software Installer on your machine? The Software Installer through IBM will download all drivers too....and it works with Win2000 and XP.

Although the Transnote isn't listed, you could still try it:

Did you follow this?: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4VHHJY

I'd recommend running the driver install again, using the order on that page; it cleared up a lot of issues for me (such as Fn+F3 not working). Your friend is right that it often seems to be the chipset drivers.

Also this page will show the default device manager setup for W2K: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4TZSMK

The link is broken now but worked recently and may come back soon. I used it this past weekend.
