TP385ED - Hard Drive slips out of multi-pin connector.

#1 Post by jwcrim » Mon Jul 12, 2004 7:16 pm

I changed the TP385ED's hard drive putting the same IBM type (P/N) in that I removed.

The multi-pin connector is rigidly fixed to the PC board and you slide the drive onto it, then hold down the drive by tightening the spring metal case around it. Ater a week or so the drive slips to the right inside its case and loses connection.

Am I missing some parts or steps to secure it?

Thanks.

Are there some screws or a clip to keep the spring metal sheath over the drive?

If not, you may need to resort to bulking the drive in place with some foam rubber.

Hope this helps.

The metal sheath is a 2 part springy sandwich that screws together capturing the drive and the sheath is screwed to the TP case.

I'm sure you are right that more has to be done to lock the drive in place.

Thanks.
