ThinkPad 770X: sound and video problems in XP!

Hi!
Just installed Windows XP on a fairly old ThinkPad 770X which I bought recently. Although it seems to work just fine I still have two (major) problems. First, I cannot get any sound within XP, as Windows states that there is no audio device present! I did some searching in the net and found that this model should definitely have a sound chip present. Do I have to find for and search any special drivers for that matter? Of course, there is a possibility that the chip (or card) has been removed by the user before me (although I do not know if this is physically possible). And the second problem is the desktop picture being in the size of a postcard (in resolution 800*600). Do I have to download any special drivers for that purpose, too or can this bee fixed with tweaking some video settings?

WinXP workes just fine on my TP770X. The sound and video drivers
are included in WinXP CD by default. So they were automatically
recognized immediately upon installation.

So I suspect the hardwre of your TP770X may be something wrong,
or the BIOS is not new. First check the BIOS version and update it to
the latest if it is any older. Next go through the hardware diagnosis
using the EZ-Setup test menu.

Hello Cedrick.. I believe that the "BIOS Update" should do the trick. I recently had the same problem with a 770x a few days ago - no audio. Initially I had a dilema in applying the BIOS update when the program required a fully functional and charged battery. Well.. I managed to get around that when one day the existing battery suddenly decided to cooperate and appeared to be charging. It eventually reached "100%". I immediately applied the BIOS Update (I made a bootable CD version since I do not have a floppy drive on my 700x). Then.. after a F1's (Setup) and "Initialize", the 770x audio components all WORKED at the next re-boot.
