Thinkpad 390 won't boot after ram upgrade

I installed 256 mb of ram and the computer won't startup at all just a black screen. I installed two 128MB PC100 SODIMM I bought from here. http://www.archmemory.com/index.asp?Pag ... gory=38622

I tried to update the bios but it says the battery is not fully charged (Battery is no good). Do I need to buy a new battery and update my bios or did I buy the wrong memory?

The hard drive went too as I was installing the ram. I thought it was on its way out but now I am shore I ran scandisk and it failed this time. Not shore if that could couse the new ram not to work? It still boots to bios with the old ram.

Thanks In advance Tom

Well, the site says it's guaranteed to work, which means you can probably return them?

Thanks that worked but the ram still won't work I will have to send it back. You saved me from buying a battery!
