Charging problem

#1 Post by olsteve » Mon Jan 30, 2006 11:06 pm

Hello-
I have a TP 390X which I have used on the AC adaptor for a long time. I recently purchased a new battery for the TP. The battery came with a partial charge and worked well. However, the new battery won't charge. If I remove the battery and reinstall it it will say 'charging' for a few seconds and then it isn't. It is at 1% and says 'critical'. Does anyone know of this issue? Is there a fix? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Use some hardware info software read out the ACPI info from the battery EEPROM(most li-ion batteries have that) and find out the value under "last full battery capacity" or "remaining battery capacity" section. Most likely the battery you bought was already dead.

For windows I know Everest Home edition is free
For linux simply enable ACPI in kernel and you will get battery info like this snapshot.
