THE PROBLEM THAT I RAN INTO RIGHT AWAY WAS WHEN I PULLED OUT THE CD/ROM DRIVE AND SWAPPED IN THE FLOPPY I HAVE, THE THING STARTED BEEPING AT ME NON-STOP BEEP BEEP BEEP-----BEEP BEEP BEEP........AND SO ON. WILL NOT STOP NOW UNLESS I REMOVE THE DRIVE ALL TOGETHER... HELP PLEASE!

Personally, I would start with the Software Installer, which will give you the option of installing a ton of IBM programs:

This will also include the EasyEject Utility, which will make swapping drives so much easier. Alternatively, you can use XP's "Safely Remove Hardware" feature in the system tray.
