Replacing mouse connector on 600x

#1 Post by robingc » Wed Feb 08, 2006 9:15 am

My 600x has an unreliable PS2 mouse connector socket. I presume this is soldered to the motherboard. Does anyone have any experience of replacing this connector please - or do I just look out for a replacement motherboard!
Thanks,
RobinI

I don't but here's a few general comments

Finding a connector without buying a good or junk motherboard may be tough

Don't overlook the possibility that one or more of the pins has broken the solder at the board, and simply needs to be re soldered.

I haven't tried this, but if you can do some amount of PC board work, a small iron and a length of "solder wick" is probably all you'll need.

Remember my saying, though

"You can't break it if it's broken, but you can fix it so it can't be fixed."
