You'd better check whether the new HDD is firmly connected with your 600X. TP 600X can accomodate upto 120GB.

Kurt,

Are you yourself running a 120GB HDD in your TP 600X? Do you know of any limitations in terms of HDD speed (rpm) or interface speed (UDMA/ATA settings)? I have been having problems with my Hitachi 7k 60GB. WinXP has to constantly "check for consistencies" at boot. This check goes really slow and it even goes slower when it checks free space.

lehugo,

You should download the Seagate Wizard that helps you prepare your drive for installation. It did a beautiful job getting my Seagate 40GB 5400 rpm ready for installation on a TP 600E after a failed attempt to format the drive on my own.

thanks hjulian!

already tried the wizard of seagate! didnt show up my hard drive..!
but if you say seagate worked at your 660e..i probably think it should work as well on my 600x!

i was not sure about the interface! 600x has ata66, right!
so my harddrive is ata100 but i read at seagates page that it should be related downwords to the ata66 and should work!!

thanks all...ill try again again again...

some more infos:

whenever i use the disc wizard of seagate (@kurt: maybe this seagate disc doesnt fit my 600x??) :

"From the DWSE main menu, select the "setup your hard disc" option.
Select the hard disc you want to install then click next. " (this is the instruction of seagate)

i cant choose my disc because there is no disc available in the folder/list!!

Have you ever had this drive working? Are there any jumpers set on it?

Do you hear it spinning? Does the led show any activity at all?

You might just have a dead drive. Where did you get it from?
