Hi,I'm still playing around with this old unit.I have been able to finally install windows 95b and office.I have a 16 bit wireless card (netgear),but I need the driver off the CD.This does not have a cd-rom(although I have an external one that I can't get to work).I also have an IDE cable to hook up to desktop(not sure how). There is a port on this unit for phone connection? Does the cap pry off ? I don't want to break it. I thought maybe if could hook it up to a dial up connection I could download driver that way.?
Thanks for any help,I have learned so much from this forum.
It's amazing for how old this unit is,the screen is crystal clear and the battery holds almost 2 hour charge.

The 760L doesn't have a built in modem even though there is that phone icon. If you want to use the internet you'll need a 16-bit PCMCIA modem or network card.

For transferring files, networking would be one of the easiest and most efficient ways. You could also try software like laplike or Windows direct cable connection that will allow you to use a serial or parallel cable to transfer date to and from your desktop.

The method I most commonly use, however, is transferring files via an external USB 2.0 hard drive enclosure hooked up to my desktop with the laptop drive in it.

As for the screen and battery, those are two of the 760's strong points. I've gone through more 760's than most people go through lcomputers altogether and I've only come across one battery and with the exception of one or two units, all screens looked like new as far as picture goes.
