How do I "un-partition" a T240 6 GB hard drive?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

How do I "un-partition" a T240 6 GB hard drive?

#1 Post by SteveDC » Wed Feb 22, 2006 3:50 pm

I keep my T240 (Win 98 ) around for lightweight tasks. A long time ago -- I am not sure why -- I partitioned the 6 GB hard drive into a 2 GB "C" drive and a 4 GB "D" drive. I want to make it a single 6 GB drive again so the "C" drive will easily handle Win XP Home (used to support newer wireless drivers). (Yeah, I know it is s l o o o w!)

It has been so long I am not sure how I partitioned it. Maybe Partition Magic.

How can I make it a single 6 GB partition again? If I just load the IBM install CD-ROM that came with the machine, will that do it? (Seems I tried that long ago and ended up with the same partitions, but I may be wrong. I have also tried to un-partition drives on other machines with Partition Magic, but can never make it work -- I can make partitions, but never remove them.)
