Upgraded Memory get error: Dev002 ERR21 FRU0020

#1 Post by DustyDeck » Sat Mar 04, 2006 2:49 pm

Hi Guys, I managed to update my bios and install the samsung 256 mg memory, I followed IBM install procedures but when I do the test in bios I come up with a memory error.
DEV 002
ERR 21
FRU 0020

Windows XP boots up until the mouse apears on the blank screen and then it crashes. The blue screen tells me to shut off memory cache and remove any newly installed hardware etc.

If I run a 64mg and a 128 mg It is fine. everything runs great.
The samsun 256 mg by itself does not boot past the IBM TP Logo screen.

Does this mean that the great deal I got on the Samsung memory isnt such a good deal after all. Do you suppose it is bad memory? Is there a fix I am not aware of? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yep,sounds like your machine doesn't like the Samsung memory...It may not be bad,it might not be compatible with your computer..

What model TP do you have??..And what type memory is the Samsung? PC100? PC133? High density? Low density?

Low density PC100 should work....Might be a bad stick then...
