#1 Post by kieran_campebll » Sun Mar 05, 2006 8:07 pm

Im having trouble trying to figure out this problem, although minor i would like to remedy it, i have looked at some forums and cannot fix it.

when i try to scroll with the third button on the trackpad, but doen't work.
although it does work within windows and im pritty sure that it works in IE, and i was wondering if maybe there was a patch of something like that i could apply of little app.

I can scroll vertically in all my browsers: Netscape 7.2, Opera, Firefox, and I.E.. I can also scroll horizontally in Opera and I.E.. I am using Firefox version 1.5.0.1. I am using the Ultranav driver version 7.5.17.18 on my T42.

EDIT: I didn't see at first that you are using the touchpad. I am using the trackpoint (red eraser) and the three buttons just below the spacebar. I do not have my touchpad enabled.

Good question. To be honest, I forgot I was in the ThinkPad 770, 600 Series & Transnote forum when I answered your post . I used to have a 600E, which got handed down to my daughter. This 600E is running W2K, and I don't know if scrolling works in Firefox on it or not, as I didn't use Firefox when I had it. Currently my daughter is in another state, so I can't take a look at it.

I have a 600E and use the latest version of Firefox.
I too have noticed that it's one app that the scrolling doesn't work in.

I have XP with SP2 installed on the 600E and the driver for the Trackpad is just the standard one installed with XP.

I just checked, and there is a new TrackPoint driver for the 600E just released last month. It does list scrolling support for Netscape 6, Opera, and other applications. While Firefox is not listed specifically, it may work with Firefox.

TrackPoint driver for Windows 2000/XP/XP Tablet 2005 - ThinkPad General

EDIT: I should have added that to install a driver from IBM's site, you download it first, then double-click on the downloaded file to extract it's contents. Finally you double-click on Setup.exe in the directory where the files were extracted to.

Thanks for that info GomJabbar.

I've just downloaded the new driver and updated my 600E and it seems to have improved things...

Scrolling up/down now working fine in Firefox.
Left/right scrolling not working but i suspect that may be some settings that i have tinkered with!! I'll have a play with my 600E later and see if i can get left/right scrolling to work.

For me, left-right scrolling only works in Opera and Internet Explorer. Left-right scrolling does not work in Firefox or Netscape 7.2 (at least for me).
