thinkpad 600x

#1 Post by tony6264 » Tue Mar 07, 2006 2:25 pm

I just picked up a 600x with the 450 mhz proc., and everything seemed fine at first, but now every so often the screen will just go white...I tried adjusting the angle but it did not do anything...even tried a different inverter and it still did the same thing. The only way to get it to go back to normal is to shut the top and then reopen, it then kind of comes out of hibernation or sleep mode....any ideas?
thanks

Make sure the cables are firm and not messed up in any way. Also see if you can test your video card in the Easy Setup diagnostics (entered by holding F1 while turning on machine and keeping F1 held until Easy Setup screen appears).

I have checked all connections and I also have found out that if I toggle the output ( FN + F7) it comes right back to normal...I think maybe it might need thebios to be flashed...but I need to go to a friends house and use their good battery to do it.
BTW ...I like your tag line...PASTA!!!! good one

Thanks. I acutally came up with the PASTA joke after reading some business memos that were filled with stupid acronyms.

As for the BIOS, first off, make sure you don't already have the newest BIOS. I actually don't think the BIOS would be the issue though you could try it if you want.

Does the screen go white while you are in the middle of using the computer or after it's been sitting alone?

the only times that I have noticed it was when it had been sitting idle for some time...this is my daughters laptop and I have to go by the info she gives me.

If this only happens after sitting idle, check the power management settings, the suspend timeouts and the screensaver settings. Sounds like it might be a software issue.
