I've got a thinkpad 570 and the lcd display doesnt show anything anymore, though i can hear the comp booting up.
I was wondering if someone could walk me through the bios so i can change display to both(lcd+crt).
thanks

No worries i figured it out.
Im trying to fix it for a friend, but the hdd's dead and the screens dead so it would be cheaper to purchase another 1.

Be sure to tell your friend that he/she can stil sell the 570 and get some money towards another system.
There might be someone here that would buy it because they might have a 570 with a dead systemboard, but good display.
I know that I might be interested in it, even though I don't currently have a 570, but rather because I like to collect them.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the LCD glass in the ThinkPad 570 and ThinkPad 600E are the same. If that is true, you might be able to pick up a dead 600E on eBay (there's a good few of them most of the time) you can do a transplant and have your 570 back in service.
570E LCD Whiteout

I have three 570s, two 570Es and one 570. The 570Es have a connector inside the LCD assembly itself. This connector works loose over time and movement. The symptoms are a white screen on bootup. On my most used 570E I can restore the display by lightly flexing the LCD, pulling on the lower right and pushing on the upper left. I purchased a service manual for the 570 which gives step by step instructions to remove the LCD assembly. While the LCD assembly is not a field servicable component, I have been able to repeatedly disassemble the LCD assembly, reseat the connector and the 570E works great for some time depending on how often it is closed and carried. I carry mine back & forth every day and have only reseated the connector twice in 18 months.
