Unclear purpose of Port

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Unclear purpose of Port

#1 Post by kieran_campebll » Sun Mar 19, 2006 4:52 pm

I have been wondering what the port on the right of the headphone jack was for, i was thinking that it might be for a Numberpad Periferal, so idf someone could tell me that would be great!!
thanks

What MODEL Thinkpad are you asking about?

I'm not aware of any that have a dedicated port for a numer keypad.

It's gonna be pretty darn hard to answer this question without knowing the BRAND and MODEL of your laptop.

Additionally, if you have an IBM/Lenove Thinkpad

There is the model number--as in my old 380XD, or my newer 600X

and--there is the TYPE NUMBER which is normall on the bottom label near the barcode.

With these two numbers, we can point you to a download spot where you can download the user manual and or the hardware manual

My 600X has the following from left to right

The three sound jacks, with the PHONES at right

To the right of that is the INFRA RED LENS [) )))

To the right of that are the PCMCIA slots

Again, it would be a good idea to download the manuals for your machine.
