Just bought a Hitatchi Travelstar HTS541040G 40gb 5400rpm drive for my 240.

Laptop seems to see it ok, but when I've installed w2k via my desktop using a 3.5 to 2.5 convertor & switched off when it needs to do it's restart (a trick that worked a treat when I set up the 6gb I got last year!) it tries to boot in the, says it is & then just hangs with the white 'progress' bar full. And thats it.

I've had w2k running on it, so as far as I know I've got the latest bios.

Are there any later updates for the newer faster drives??

Any help gratefully recieved!

Did you solve the problem?
If not yet, try to define the partition on your TP240, not on another system. If the partition
is defined on another system, it sometimes causes a lot of problems.

Not yet, but I'm getting there! Win2k is just completing it's setup. Drivers next!

Ended up going the tried & trusted (but longer!) method of doing 2 partitions with W98 & copying the I386 folder from the W2k CD into the little D: partition & running setup from there.

So far so good though......

UPDATE - Everything working and my little 240 buddy is running fine with win2k on the bigger HDD.

Right, anyone got any sets of screws lying about for a 240 and any of the case panels?? I think it needs a new set!
