Thinkpad 600 disks

#1 Post by Fugglesworth » Mon Apr 03, 2006 6:48 pm

Help please! Have a Thinkpad 600. Since I bought, I have had problems. Great machine when it works, but get error 163 & 173 message. I see it may be the CMOS. Does anyone have or know where I can get the disks for this system. Where I bought, only gives me a burned copy and when I put it in, it doesn't work! I want to get one that works so I can reformat my system and try to start clean!! Plus I will get my CMOS looked into unless anyone has a different idea of what is going on.... thanks for your help!

Your Thinkpad has lost it's Date/Time settings as well as the configuration information because it's CMOS battery is dead.

Turn the unit over and open the memory compartment cover. You'll see a small, yellow plastic wrapped Lithium cell battery pushed under the plastic case next to the memory slot. Remove the battery and GENTLY remove the plug from the motherboard.

Get a new battery, install it, then go into the BIOS (EZSetup) and set the date and time, then initialize the system and restart.
