Enable USB while in DOS?
Does anyone know if it is possible to enable my cardbus USB adapter to be operational from a DOS boot? I'd like to connect my 760XD to another PC for a Ghost 2003 Peer to peer backup.
Look into DUSE.
http://www.bootdisk.com/usb.htm
I've kind of used it before, but never figured it out completely.

PCMCIA USB adapters and DOS
I just ran across this on Symantec's web site. Seems it can't done...
Solution:
USB is a connection type, rather than a device type. That is, "USB" specifies a method for communicating between computer components or between a computer and external devices or other computers.
Ghost compatibility with USB connections depends on the Ghost version, the USB version, and whether the USB connection connects to a second computer or to an external device. Symantec has a list of tested CD drives for Symantec Ghost 8.0 and Norton Ghost 2003. However, because Ghost supports the connection type rather than specific devices, Symantec does not have a list of other types of supported USB devices.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: Ghost does not work with the USB PCMCIA add-on cards.

Thanks sswany for your time and trouble.

Selvan,
Adaptec does not provide DOS drivers for any of their USB2.0 cards.
Nor does Ghost, DriveCopy, etc., etc. work with PCMCIA card based USB adapters AFAIK. I think that pretty much answers the question.

James
