770 boot issue

I got a 770 from my uncle as it would no longer boot for him.
When starting up the processor fan spun, but it would not try to access the HD.
I removed the hd, floppy, battery, cmos battery, and ram and still no luck.
After taking it apart I was able to get it to boot to bios when I removed the standby battery.
I reinstalled the HD, but couldn't get it to load the os, just hung on the windows startup screen.
I put everything back together and it was back to how it was when I first got it.
I tried a new cmos, but nothing has changed.
I'm pretty much out of ideas so I thought I'd check and see if anyone has any recommendations.

Try booting [censored] Small Linux from a CD-Rom (http://www.[censored].org/).

I used DSL on 770 for a while without any problems

It only has a Floppy drive, so booting from a CD is a no-go for me. As of right now it won't even boot off a floppy. I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna have to part it out and see what I can get. I know the HD caddies are worth a little on ebay so at least I'll get something out of it.
