Need instructions for replacing the CMOS backup battery on a ThinkPad 720C. I already have a new battery; just need directions.

Thanks for your assistance.

that is OLD..!!!
the 720 did not even open up like the 750 series did..
in the 750 series the cmos battery was under the floppy drive on the right..

is there a door near the memory slots.. on the left edge..?

have you tried for a hardware maintenance manual from the ibm site..?

maybe one of the older guys around has an idea..

what are you doing with that machine..?

Bill Morrow, thanks for your reply.
This unit is the "playtoy/learning tool" for one of my 'co-workers' wife and, yes, it "IS" old. Don't know about the 750, but no easy access door on this puppy like on the 600 series....DRAM is on a PCMCIA like card that slips in the left front side ahead of the actual PCMCIA slots. I've gone to the ibm site and tried to download the volume 2 maintenance manual, but can't seem to get it...I connect to the ftp, says it is downloading the pdf file, says that it is done and then just stops...can't quite figure it out. Any further suggestions? Thanks again.
