OA refers to the specific key that is causing the problem. I can't remember where I saw a break down of which keys are assigned which number/alpha codes.

In the alternative, if you boot into the BIOS and select the "Test" icon, you can press "Ctrl" and "A" and it will take you to a hidden test page that will allow you to press and test each key on your keyboard. This will allow you to find out if maybe a key is just temporarily stuck.

If a key isn't stuck, and is just non-responsive, then you might want to remove and reseat the keyboard connector.

i appreciate your help-

every key showed up and blinked when i held it in...so whats this thinkpads beef with me!

its currently rebooting and starting up fine. i had installed that utility that lets you use a button to open the start menu- uninstalled that yesterday, maybe it just confused it?

thanks!

If it is rebooting fine now, then you are probably ok. It was most likely just a key that was sticking at the time.
