Bios Updating Problems with 600E

#1 Post by ChefJohn » Sun Apr 30, 2006 7:09 pm

I downloaded the latest BIOS from IBM/Lenova for my 600E 2645 - 55U (version 47 I believe). I extracted it to a diskette Had a charged battery and power off booted. I get a blue screen indicating installer version 000 then after a few more seconds I get a dialog box in bottom right saying this computer cannot be upgraded the computer is locked press control alt delete to restart.
If I remove the diskette the Unit reboots (after 3 fingered salute) and starts the normal OS start up..

Do you have a BIOS or Supervisor password?

you may very well need to try v36 instead,
go by current bios shown in the os or bios,
try on external or internal floppy vica versa
make sure you got a new floppy disc too.

version 36 WILL NOT work on the 55U...it is a seperate beast and might damage the BIOS permanently.
