770x can't get past error screens

#1 Post by Turbovend » Fri May 05, 2006 8:46 pm

770x just in from eBay.
First problem: needs Power on Password (POP)
Second problem: error codes 161 and 163 will not go away, fatal dead end.

The HMM says to power on with the POP jumper shorted and then the password prompt should go away. But it doesn't. (Icon indicates POP, NOT Administator Password)

However, I can begin to go into the bios just by hitting enter. Then error 161 and 163 come up again big, then if I hit OK or cancel, errors 161 and 163 come up again with an icon which indicates "refer to manual". Dead end.

161 (cmos battery bad) still comes on even though I changed the cmos battery.
163 -- I can't update system date and time because I can never get that far.

Bad system board according to HMM flow chart. But I keep thinking there must be a way to get past the errors into the bios to change the date/time and initialize. Any tips?

Note: There are 3 sets of jumpers. As far as I can tell, the HMM says to jumper the left set only. No indication what the other 2 sets of jumpers are for.
Lots of fully refurbished TPs now available at my eBay store:
