Can 770ED support 19" monitor at 1024x768x32 @75 refresh ?
Note: x32 means 32-bit color

I have a 770ED running Dell Trinitron 17" monitor at 1024x768x32 @75 refresh rate and it looks good. My sister also as a 770ED. They are configured the same, same memory upgrade, same hard drive upgrade.

My sister's 770ED needs a new external monitor. She has some vision problems so the new monitor must work at 1024x768x32 @ 75 refresh rate like the Dell Trinitron 17" monitor does.

QUESTION: Will a 19" monitor work at 1024x768x32-bit color at 75 refresh rate? Or will a 19" monitor cause us to loose color (16-bit vs 32-bit) or refresh rate (60-70 vs 75), or paint the screen slower. If the answer to any of these is Yes, then we will go with a new 17" monitor (and forego the 19").

Can someone PLEASE offer advice me on this. I have spent a week researching 17" and 19" monitors, and am between Viewsonic P75f+ (17") and P95f+ (19"). Please help.

Supports 1024x768x32 at 75 refresh rate
It supports 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 at 60-70 refresh (not 75), and at 16-bit color (not 32-bit color).
288 MB memory (max). IBM 66MHz: 2x128 + 32MB soldered on mobo
40GB IBM/Hitachi TravelStar 40GNX 5400rpm - upgraded from 8GB
Issue: fan does not come on with 40GB. Reinstall 8GB drive and fan comes on.

Based upon the feedback I get here, I will order one of the following
monitors, they are aperture grille (Trinitron type tube) same as the Dell Trinitron 17" monitor I am using.

I posted my question in this forum because:

- Your response "It should work just fine" does not answer my question: Will 770ED support 19" monitor at 1024x768x32 @ 75 refresh rate.

- 600X and 770Z are later machines with higher levels of hardware than the 770ED. So it does not help me.

Please can I hear from someone regarding 770ED, or a 770 that uses Trident 3D Cyber9397 4MB video card.

Provided you're not trying to play the latest 3D games, it should work just
fine.

My docked 600X runs an external Sony 19" at 1280X1024 with absolutely no
problems, even when watching the odd DVD on occasion.

I often dock my 770Z to the same monitor.

Here's the published spec for that card: External SVGA to 1280x1024 w/ 64K colors (85Hz) or 1024x768 w/ 16M colors.

The size of the display is irrelevant.

BTW, your 770ED and the 770Z I referred to use the exact same Trident CYBER9397E video card with 4MB SGRAM.
