2645-45U botched OS install.

#1 Post by FoMoGo » Mon May 29, 2006 6:09 am

I was given a TP600 for free due to it being inoperable.
XP Pro was being installed on it and came up with the blue screen mid install.
"Your computer has reported that a component in your system is faulty and has prevented windows from operating..."

Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x000000E0 (0x0000001, 0x8000003, 0x00008080, 0x8177c000)
Could it be a BIOS issue?
It has only the CD drive and no floppy.
What would you recommend for me to try?

download PCdoctor for dos, make some floppies and boot it from floppy.
Run PCdoctor and figure out what is faulty, it may be as simple as a memory card.

1- swap out your RAM sticks,if possible...1 of them maybe bad

2- make sure you have the newest BIOS update installed..

3- remove any hardware you don't need during the OS install...Wireless cards,the modem,the battery,etc..
1 T23 1.13 Mhz.SXGA+..512 RAM..Built in Wireless
1 T23 1.13 Mhz..256 RAM...
1 600e that now a 600x(500Mhz) with 256 RAM
1 600x(500 Mhz) with 327 Ram
1 600x upgraded to 600Mhz with 256 RAM

That might change after you are able to get all of the updates, or you install Battery Maximizer.

Or it may mean your battery is completely shot.. A co-worker of mine has a 390x...It wouldn't shut down correctly with the battery in it.. He bought a new batt and his problems went away...

you might want to get a volt meter ansd see if the battery has any charge on it, at all..
if dead, then that just could be the problem..

there are lots of cheap parts for that 600 out in the ether..
have fun.. 8)
