Right 10% of LCD not working

Hello,

I purchased another 570 "for parts or repair" on ebay for $25. I was able to use the mainboard/case/keyboard from that one with my existing LCD and Hard Drive, which solved several minor problems.

The main problem with the 570 "for parts" that I bought was that the right 10% of the screen is not working, it's just white. I know it is in the LCD assembly due to switching it with the other LCD assembly.

Is there any possibility of fixing this - is it possibly due to the inverter or connections ? Or is a new LCD panel required ?

Thanks !

Short version: Extremely unlikely, no, possibly, yes.

Long version: Chances are that it's an internal LCD problem. The inverter only generates the high voltage needed to fire up the backlight so I don't believe that it's the cause of the problem you describe. There's a remote chance that it could be one of the external connections (i.e. the ribbon cable receptacle that I would assume the panel has). As LCD panels have many internal connections for the active matrix, there's a good possibility that something has damaged that portion of the screen.
