TP 600 and suspend mode

#1 Post by Guest » Wed Aug 11, 2004 3:30 pm

Hey all, I was hoping I could get a couple of suggestions on my problem:

Thinkpad 600 (2645-45U), PII-300, 288MB Ram, 12GB HDD, Fastmott CDRW/DVD combo drive

Windows 98SE

The 12GB drive and Fastmott unit were added by me, as was moving the ram up to system max (and Win98SE recognizes it all).

The last couple of times I tried to enter suspend mode (close LCD), the machine wouldn't come back out of it (had my wireless card in the PCMCIA slot at the time, but don't know if that's a factor). I usually have to power cycle the system to get it back up.

Before I upgraded the HDD (pre-fastmott, pre-wireless card), I didn't have this problem. I didn't install 98 in APM mode, but forgot and did it in ACPI mode, but added the registry patch for APM later. Everything else seems to work all right, though there is a long period (1-2 minutes) during bootup when it appears that nothing is happening at all, then the machine continues to boot and run as normal. I don't usually use hibernation mode, but I do have the hibernation file enabled.

Besides trying without the wireless card and fastmott drive, what else can I look at to find out why I can't get back out of suspend mode?

Thanks,

Rob
