Whats a good ethernet card for the pre-CardBus Thinkpads?
In no particular order I would like one thats high speed, x-jack, reliable, and easy to find used on ebay.
It's time my dsl modem played nice with my Thinkpads.
TIA

One card that I know works good is the Xircom XE2000 10/100 ethernet adapter. It's a 16-bit card, so it should work. The only problem is that if you are running windows, you will probably have to download the drivers for the card from the Intel website (or search for xircom xe2000 on google), and you probably have to be running Windows 95. You also have to install the drivers for it before you plug it in, or it won't work. Other than that, though, it works pretty well on older laptops.

If you don't mind a 10Mbps card, I've used a 3Com Megahertz card that has an X-Jack. I keep it around to use on old machines that I work on that doesn't have ethernet. Very convenient to have the X-Jack. The model number is: 3CXE589ET

Thanks for the tip, found a 3Com 3CXFE574BT on ebay, looked it up and it supports both 16 and 32 bit plus 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX. Sposed to work with windows 95 < XP plus DOS, prolly OS/2 and Linux drivers out there somewhere.
